WP SEO Management / method

Begin with the last release that caused uncertainty.

Instead of another generic audit, reconstruct a change that affected a commercially important page. Identify the owner, acceptance test and reversal process.

  1. 01 / Audit the operating model

Identify the site owner, hosting arrangements, plugins, editors and deployment process. Separate technical SEO work from basic support.

  2. 02 / Establish a baseline

Record priority search pages and query cohorts, known issues and data reliability before making changes.

  3. 03 / Deliver controlled improvements

Use an agreed backlog, reviewed updates and a visible release log rather than opaque plugin configuration changes.

  4. 04 / Measure commercially

Track lead quality, relevant landing-page visibility and verified issues resolved, with the reporting cadence set to the client's needs.

Example: two components claim to own canonicals

A site changes SEO plugins while the WordPress theme still emits canonical and structured data. Before touching settings, capture final HTML from a service page, an article, a category archive and a custom post type. Identify the component responsible for each signal. After the proposed update, repeat the sample and compare metadata, sitemap inclusion, breadcrumbs and key navigation.

A useful release record contains the evidence, the responsible person and unresolved exceptions. It should also relate work to actual qualified enquiries or purchases, with appropriate uncertainty in attribution. If the main failure is server uptime or malicious code, that needs an explicitly agreed infrastructure or security workstream.

What success can and cannot mean

An accountable, measured programme for maintaining and improving search performance without disrupting ordinary publishing.

Search rankings can change for reasons outside an individual implementation. We agree commercial outcomes and evidence quality in advance rather than promising a fixed ranking or timetable.
